Frequently Asked Questions
-
Where do you draw your members?
- As we are centrally located with easy access to Routes 4 and 17 and the Garden State Parkway, we draw congregants from throughout Bergen County. Many of our members live in River Edge, Oradell, Paramus and Fair Lawn.
-
Do I have to be a member to send my child to your school?
- No, you can send your children to the religious school without being a member if your oldest child is younger than 3rd grade.
-
Do I have to be a member to receive High Holy Day tickets?
- All members receive tickets as part of their dues. We sell a limited number of tickets to non-members, however these get snapped up quickly. The community is invited to attend second day of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur afternoon services.
-
My spouse and I are an interfaith couple, are we welcome at Temple Avodat Shalom?
- Absolutely! We have a number of interfaith couples that feel welcome and are essential parts of our community.
-
I have a special needs child. Can they become a Bar/Bat Mitzvah?
- At Temple Avodat Shalom we believe that the RITE of Bar and Bat Mitzvah is the RIGHT of all children, including children with special challenges. With this goal in mind, we offer different options for our special needs children. Every child has strengths and challenges. At Temple Avodat Shalom Religious School we are committed to providing the best Jewish educational experience possible for all children.
-
Are children welcome at worship services?
- Always! We believe having children enhances our worship service and all are encouraged to attend. During the year, each grade from our school will play an integral part of our service. For the High Holy Days, our Youth Group runs services geared toward our younger children.
-
