The Hub for Jewish Learning and Engagement

The Hub for Jewish Learning and Engagement at Temple Avodat Shalom provides an immersive and engaging approach to Jewish education.

Through the implementation of project-based learning*, our individualized learning program, which provides extra support to students of all learning and behavioral needs, and full-family and parent programming, our students and their families build confidence and competence in their understanding of Jewish tradition and community, as well as a love for Jewish learning and for our diverse TAS community.

Temple Avodat Shalom Religious School strives to provide a high quality, stimulating and engaging Jewish education that helps foster a strong Jewish identity, community participation and love of Judaism.  We strive to inspire our students to continue to absorb our history, traditions, values and the Hebrew language, now and throughout their lives.

Through project-based, whole-child and whole-family learning, we will immerse our students in Jewish education in a way that is modern, engaging, meaningful, and puts our students and families first.

*What is Project-Based Learning?

Project-Based Learning is a teaching method in which students gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to an authentic, engaging, and complex question, problem, or challenge.

Students work on a project over an extended period of time – from a week up to a semester – that engages them in solving a real-world problem or answering a complex question. They demonstrate their knowledge and skills by creating a public product or presentation for a real audience.

As a result, students develop deep content knowledge as well as critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and communication skills. Project-Based Learning unleashes a contagious, creative energy among students and teachers.
