Shabbat Dinners
Shabbat Dinners
FIRST FRIDAYS
First Fridays are a special time at TAS where families gather together for a Shabbat dinner before an early service. It is a chance for grownups and children to catch up with friends they may not see during the week. A special holiday or Shabbat themed craft project is set up for children while the adults have an opportunity to relax and transition from the work week to enjoying Shabbat with friends and family.
After dinner families participate in a joyous Shabbat service filled with music, and celebration. Throughout the year our TAS Hebrew School classes take turns leading us in song and prayer from the bimah. Our First Fridays would not be complete without bimah buddies and a special blessing for all those marking a birthday or other simcha in the new month.
HOME HOSPITALITY
We believe that the heart of Shabbat is community. We worship and learn together, and we also share meals together. Our Home Hospitality Shabbatot occur two-three times per year. Members open their homes for a festive Shabbat meal to the congregation with the goal of forging new relationships among members. Meals range from pizza to potluck to traditional Shabbat meals, as the hosts want.
